Peresean
Hello, Im Rilian Olivia. Here I'mback !! As I once promised that I will provide a brief history of Peresean on the previous blog. Now I will keep my promise.
So the following is the history of how peresean develops.
Maybe there are still many people in Indonesia who do not know what it is Peresean. However, for those of you who like traveling and foreign tourists, are not familiar with the name Peresean.
Peresean is a traditional performance of Lombok Sasak tribe based on the spirit of nationalism of a person who is fighting for this country. Peresean began during the colonial era in Indonesia, the people of the war using rattan weapons to attack opponents and use a protective shield in front of the chest.
As time went on, Indonesia headed for independence which meant there would be no more fighting. Finally, to commemorate the Lombok community, the making of the Peresean is a tradition in Lombok that has tribe and nation.
In addition to remembering what was experienced during the colonial period, the community also believed that Peresean was a ceremony asking for rain during the arid time on this island.
The content of this very nationalist history of history is certainly developed by the people of Lombok as a potential selling point for the charm of tourism on the island of Lombok. So, present-day essay is used to welcome tourists who come to this island.
This performance was played by two fighters who wore traditional clothes from the Sasak tribe. Those who only use a capuk (fabric on the head) while for the lower part of the clothes are called Kereng which are added with bebet (fabric used as a belt on the waist). While the weapons they use to fight are ende (a tool to fend off and guard against opponents), ende itself is made of cow or buffalo skin. The instrument held to tear the opponent is a copier, made from rattan. This fight show is not inferior to soccer matches and others, because in this match there will be a referee who sets the battle path. A referee is referred to as Pekembar. While the one with a name is Pepadu.
Not only that, fighters will actually attack each other by whipping their opponents. So, the wounds obtained by a fighter are also the real wound. The audience must strengthen mentally before seeing this show. So, for those of you who haven't seen this and are planning to vacation to Lombok. PREPARE MENTAL YOU GUYS TO SEE THEIR ACTION
Well, that's a brief history of this essay. Hopefully this blog can add your new insights about the history of tribes and culture. Thank you !
